2009 Banquet

120 people were in attendance tonight and we had a great meal, some laughs, some fun and a just a good time. I made some 'special recognitions' to a few members of the audience and then introduced our special guest, "Judge G". Said to have been one of Elliot Nesses original G-men from the 1930's and over 100 years of age, the judges' long gray hair drapped over his shoulders, cane in hand, hunched over with his stocking cap and suit coat on, hobbled his way up to the podeum to give out the "GAG" awards. After his sloooow departure from the stage, I made my way back onto the stage and recognized the many track sponsors, and businesses that added money to some of the events during the '09 season.

Trophy presentations were made to the top 5 drivers in the points standings in each class, with Matt Darnell being crowned the 2009 Pure Stock Champion, Leon Fellars 2009 Mini Stock Champion, Larry Flaugher 2009 Bomber Champion, Ken Hicks 2009 Factory Stock Champion and Jeff Albright 2009 B-Mod Champion. Sportsmanship trophies were presented to Linda Leonard in the Mini Stocks, Jim Alecxaites in the Pure Stocks, Mike McGilvray in the Bombers, Bill Schaar in the Factory Stocks and Ted Ballinger in the B-mods. Jennifer Simon received an honary membership and "Rollover Trophy" for her wild ride off the #3 turn during the Powder Puff race early in the season. Bill Allen was presented a hand made plaque, designed by Marvin Jurgens from Xtreme Racing Collectibles, for his outstanding promotership of the Dallas County Speedway and his dedication to "grass roots" racing. Patty Allen received the "Flower Bouquet" of the evening for her help and support of her husband, Bill, and the speedway.
