DCS Rusults 8/6/11

By Gary Woodall

The opening ceremonies were so very honorable as Mark Perry, Summer's dad, presented the invocaton and the National Anthem was played.....singing was Summer herself (recorded) in one of her very last performances.

MotorheadEVENTS.com was on hand filming the entire show and it was live on the internet as it happened. Check them out, the show was archived and you can watch all the action of last night's races.

The 50-50 drawing was nearly $400 and Jesse Flaugher of Tuscombia was the lucky winner of some heavy cash.

Complete Feature Results:

Midgets: 18 of the 20 cars on hand started this race and the action was 2,3 wide, fast, furious and very eventful. Attrition took it's toll as only 7 cars finished the race. A 3 car pileup on the front straightaway early on took out 3 cars, but thankfully no injuries.

Factory Stocks: An action packed feature from the green flag as 14 cars took the flag. Mark Simon lead from the green with Dylan Keepper in hot pursuit the entire race.... lapped traffic came into at lap 6 as the front runners were "flyin". The last 2-3 laps were worth the admission price alone, as the 2 drivers raced each other hard with Keepper coming out on top. There were some "love taps" on the cool down lap, but nothing more.

Bombers: 20 cars on hand tonight with great racing everywhere on the track as the action stayed intense until the checkered. Dewayne Applegate's #161d rolled early in the feature in the middle of turns 3-4 and brought out a red flag. He was not injured. Just a few laps later, Melvin Smith's #2-14 and Doug Smith's #11s simultaneouly went "lumber jacking" in the trees off turns 3 and 4. It took safety crews a "little" bit of time to get the cars out of there. Melvin was able to continue racing, while Doug's car suffered too much damage and left the track on the "hook".

Pure Stocks: 14 cars took the green in a wild "bumpin and paint swappin" feature that did bring out a few cautions, but the race actually went by quickly. Some of the cautions were for the top 4 cars (Jack Wood, Dave Meldrum & Jim Alecxates) who spun because of right rear flats (roll offs) as the track was super hooked up tonight. All 3 did make it back on the track and resumed racing from the back of the field.
